Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions govern your use of this website and services.
1. Payment and Booking
All tutoring sessions must be paid for in full before the first session begins. Your booking is not confirmed until payment has been received. Payments are processed securely through Stripe. We do not accept cash.
2. Sessions and Attendance
Sessions are available in half-hour or one-hour slots. Time includes any agreed breaks.
Clients must attend sessions at the agreed start time. A grace period of 15 minutes applies. If you arrive later than this, the session will be treated as forfeited and no additional time or refund will be given.
3. Additional Services
Requests for services outside of scheduled sessions, including essay marking or written feedback, are charged at our published hourly rate. The applicable rate will be confirmed before any work begins.
4. Rescheduling, Cancellations and Refunds
To reschedule, you must give at least 3 clear days’ notice. If less than 3 clear days’ notice is given, the full fee will be charged.
Where sessions are booked online or at a distance, you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of booking. If you ask us to begin delivering sessions within that period, you agree that your right to cancel ends once the first session has been provided.
No refunds are available once a session has been delivered.
For package bookings (Gold, Marathon, or Bespoke), refunds will be calculated by deducting the value of completed sessions at the standard ad hoc rate plus the cost of any preparation and materials provided.
5. Health, Accessibility and Conduct
Clients are encouraged to share any relevant health or learning needs so that reasonable adjustments can be made. This does not affect your statutory rights.
We expect respectful behaviour at all times. Abusive or aggressive behaviour towards tutors or staff may result in immediate termination of services without refund.
6. Privacy and Data Protection
We process personal data in accordance with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018. A full Privacy Notice is available on request and must be read alongside these terms. We will not record telephone conversations without your prior knowledge and consent.
7. Intellectual Property
All lesson plans, worksheets, and teaching methods provided remain the intellectual property of A Star Tuition. Clients may use them for personal study only. Any copying, sharing, or distribution without written consent is prohibited and may lead to termination of services and legal action.
8. Exam Results Disclaimer
While tutors will provide professional guidance, we cannot guarantee examination results. Performance depends on each student’s effort, circumstances, and external factors. Materials provided are supplementary and should not be relied on as the sole source of study.
9. Dispute Resolution and Jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. We encourage mediation in the event of a dispute, but nothing in these terms affects your right to bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales.
10. Changes to Terms
We may amend these terms by giving 30 days’ written notice. Any changes will not affect bookings already paid for unless agreed. Continued use of our services after notice of changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
